Finding a Job – Difficult Like Jedi Training
New Zealand has the lowest unemployment figures in the world. It would therefore be logical to conclude that a smart, young, experienced individual such as me would have little trouble finding a job while I study.
Not so.
Finding a part-time IT job is as easy as dividing a monkey by zero while doing backflips. In space. I keep checking all the job sites, and the only “IT” positions with flexible part-time hours are help desk jobs, and frankly I have already served my helpdesk-from-hell slavery sentence, helping dimwits and class A morons, who refuse to follow instructions, connect to the internet so they can post stupid articles on their worthless blogs.
So, with the rant spat out, where do I go? Networking seems the next logical step. Communication is key, and I’ll be contacting people over the next couple of weeks to see if they have something, anything, I can help with, that will result in financial compensation. If you’re reading this, and you want a highly experienced web developer or web designer or unix/windows/network administrator to work part time during my waking hours in the Wellington region, or part time during your waking hours somewhere else in the world, flick me an e-mail (yorrike at yorrike spot com – with spot meaning dot), and we can talk.
